I have had these 6 tiles for about 40 years, carrying them with me from home to home and planning to use them in the kitchens. For the past 4 years, I've sat them on an old wooden cutting board and used them under my crockpot to protect the counter. Today I finally stuck them to the wood using construction adhesive. The deck used to be green. We chose a gray stain, which will take some getting used to, but the wood is again protected from the elements. With the light gray stain, the dirt and leaves show up much more easily, though, so I don't think we'd make this choice again. Garden 20090629

Between the taboret and the easel, Mr. Tiger Stripes stands guard over Sarah's room. He wears the necklace that she made for him, and bears the name she assigned him on the day we found him at Sam's Club. A lovely story of his origins arose from their first meeting. The long brown robe is hooded and made of terry cloth. I made that robe for my second husband before we were married. Occasionally I wore it, but it drags on the floor because he was much taller than I. So I keep it here for guests to use when they stay overnight. Sarah's robe of many colors no longer fits her, and it used to hang there, as well. There is another photo of it somewhere. I'll have to dig it up. She loved that robe.

This is reminiscent of Sarah's first painting, which was of an owl, that she painted at a very young age while living in my condo. Both of her parents are very talented artists, as was my own mother, so she comes by it naturally. The paintings below the shelf she did with the watercolors we made together when she was 3 or 4 years of age.

Mrs. Cuddly Ears, the very large rabbit my mother gave me many years ago, rests atop the quilt rack. Mrs. Cuddly Ears became her name when Sarah named her when she was not much bigger than that herself.

Cozy sleeping area, is enhanced by the high thread count Egyption cotten sheets, which I prefer to use for all of our beds. The view out this window is of our back yard, and Sarah often wakes up to look out on the birds and squirrels when she arises after a night at Grandma's house.

Here's the back lawn immediately after mowing. It takes a couple of hours to mow & about 30 minutes driving back and forth at 4 miles per hour. That doesn't include the time to weed and edge and so forth, of course. Just the riding lawn mower part of the job. But it's fun to ride the lawn mower!

I built this mini greenhouse in 9 minutes. When purchased, I planned to use it for starting seedlings, but I can use it for all kinds of small plants, not only to start seeds. I will be putting it on a larger table.

This is me on our riding lawn mower just after I finished mowing my son's lawn. I'm on son's front lawn in this photo. I drive the lawn mower a mile from our house to son's house to mow his lawn and back home again on the city streets. Well, it's not really a city. It's a small town. Still, I never thought I'd be riding a riding lawn mower, let alone driving it around on city streets back when I lived in California.
